Aliki Stathopoulou PhD (Greece)
Received her diploma from the Department of Biology, University of Crete, in 1994 and her Ph.D. from the Medical School, University of Crete, in 2002.
From 2002 to 2006 she worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Laboratory of Clinical Chemistry, University of Athens.
During her Ph.D. and post-doctoral research, she worked on the development and clinical evaluation of highly sensitive molecular diagnostic methods for the early detection of micro-metastasis in breast cancer. In recognition of this work, she received the Excellent Poster Award at the 18th International Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine in 2002 and the Avon Foundation-AACR International Scholar-in-Training Grant at the AACR 96th Meeting in 2005.
She has 16 publications in Scientific Journals and more than 100 abstracts.
From 2003 to 2007 she was employed as Temporary Lecturer at the Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Medical School, University of Athens.
Since 2006 she has been working for the National Accreditation Body of Greece (ESYD) as Accreditation Manager.
Her main activities include assessments of testing laboratories according to ISO/IEC 17025 and clinical laboratories according to ISO 15189, as well as trainings and development of accreditation guidelines, relevant to healthcare.
She has been appointed as the ESYD’s delegate for the European co-operation for Accreditation Healthcare WG (vice-chair of the group) and the contact person for all the issues concerning health care.
Currently she is the Deputy Director of the Laboratories Accreditation Division and the Head of the Testing Laboratories Accreditation sector.
Since 2015, she has been nominated as member of the Quality Assurance Scheme Development Group (QASDG) of European Commission Initiative on Breast Cancer (ECIBC), Vice Chair of the Testing subgroup.
