Prof. Edvin Prifti (Albania)

Prof. Edvin Prifti, after finishing with Gold Medal at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Tirana (1995) started the Cardiology Specialization School at the University of Siena in Italy and two years later transferred to the University of La Sapienza, Rome Italy, which ends (Clinical Fellowship), Cardiac Transplantation, University of Siena, Italy (1996-1998), (Clinical Fellowship) in Vascular Surgery, University of Siena, Italy ( 1997-1998), Clinical fellowship, Caen, France (2000).
Master in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery (2001).
A few months later he resigned in Medicine and Surgery at La Sapienza University, Rome, Italy, Faculty of Medicine, with the result “CUM LAUDE”.
PhD at La Sapienza University, Rome, Italy (2006).
During 2003-2005, he held the position of the Clinical Fellowship, University of Toronto, Canada, having previously obtained the license to practice and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Ontario.
In 2005-2006 he contracted as a Clinical Research Fellow at Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, USA.
Prof. Edvin Prifti is an internal lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana since 2008 and also the Head of the Cardiac Surgery Service since 2011.
He has also been an external lecturer at Congenital Cardiology at the University of Florence, Italy.
In 2013 she received the title “Associate Professor” and in 2016 the title “Professor”.
Prof. Edvin Prifti is the winner of the most important scientific awards in the field of cardio-thoracic surgery as follows:
1. Hans Borst Award, European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery (2001);
2. FONTAN PRIZE WINNER, European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery (2002).
3. MEMORIAL GRAHAM AWARD WORLD WINNER American Association for Thoracic Surgery (2003);
4. Cenci-Bolognetti & Louis Pasteur, from the Louis Pasteur Foundation in the field of “New developments on cardiac stem cells and the recombinant therapeutic challenges with surgical coronary revascularization” (2004).
Prof. Prifti is the author or co-author of over 350 oral scientific presentations and posters in international activities.
Dr. Edvin Prifti is the author of over 125 scientific articles published in the best international journals.
He is also the author of four scientific monographs published in Germany in English, as well as two monographs published in Albania.
He is co-author of the book for students and specialists “Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery” (2016).
In collaboration with his team has made it possible to introduce a new series of cardiac surgical techniques in Albania.
Also his international authorship of some new surgical techniques is now confirmed as “peacock tail technique” for Ebstein’s anomaly (Annals of Thoracic Surgery 2014), “extroverted elephant trunk technique cuff” (J Cardiothoracic Surgery 2016), “double (European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery 2002), “modified continuous single patch technique for complete atrioventricular septal defect” (European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery 2002), “Lambda graft for total arterial myocardial revascularization “(Annals of Thoracic Surgery 2001),” Omega anastomosis for complex coronary revascularization “(Annals of Thoracic Surgery 2003).
